Eagles of Alaska
Valley of the eagles. Haines Alaska located at the mouth of the Chilkat Valley is host every November to thousands of Bald Eagles. Each year upwards of 4000 Bald eagles gather to feed on the salmon which run upstream. The natural upwelling of warm water allows them to feed on chum salmon from September to January while the rest of Alaska is froizen solid.
The Chilkat Bald Eagle Reserve is a 48000 acre sanctuary set aside for protection of the beautiful white headed national bird.
